The Society publishes a full pedigree of Offley names and related names. This is available to all members for a small subscription fee. Updates are provided on a quarterly basis. It is also possible to purchase a full set of pedigrees, please email us for details. Two short examples are provided below to illustrate the format of the pedigrees.
Taken from the Offley of Fenstanton pedigree :-
VIII. WILLIAM OFFLEY, of St. Ives, tallow chandler and pork butcher, born St. Ives, aged 28 in 1851, bur. St. Ives 29 Mar 1865; mar. there 14 Jan 1845 Mary, born Stretham, Cambridgeshire, aged 27 in 1851, daughter of William Jackson, baker. They had issue -
1. William Offley, of whom presently. IX.
2. John Frederick Offley, grocer, born St. Ives q.e. Dec 1851, bapt. Bluntisham 12 JUL 1863, died Grimsby q.e. Sep 1932; mar. St. Stephen's, daughter of William Wain, joiner. They had issue -
(1). William Frederick Offley, cabinet maker, born Caistor q.e. Sep 1872, died Grimsby q.e. Jun 1966; mar. Grimsby q.e. Sep 1901 and had issue -
i. Nora, born and died Grimsby q.e. Sep 1904.
ii. Kate, born Grimsby q.e. Jun 1908; mar. there q.e. Jun 1931 Wilfred Blow.
Taken from the Offley of Shirley, Derbyshire pedigree :-
II. WILLIAM OFFELOW, bapt. 20 Apr 1765, died 1840; mar. Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, 13 Apr 1787 Jane Mattock and had issue -
1. Thomas Offelow, bapt. 7 Oct 1792, bur. 25 Mar 1798.
2. Thomas Offelow, of whom presently. II.
1. Alice, bapt. Shirley, Derbyshire, 10 Oct 1791, domestic nurse at Wyke Regis, Dorset, in 1881, died Bristol 11 Mar 1887, aged 96, will P.P.R. 1888.
2. Elizabeth, bapt. Shirley 23 Dec 1798.
The society also has on record a number of early Offley references which have been collected together and published. If you would like to obtain a copy of this then please email us for details. A few of these early Offley references are shown below.
1166 Roger de Offley is shown as a son of Henry de Offley of High Offley. He married Leticia and they had three sons; William (monk of Ronton), Sir Thomas and Henry. Roger de Offley died about 1190. (Walter Chetwynd, History of Pirehill Hundred, 1679).
1297 Thomas de Offeleye held property in Suffolk and Chester. Inq. P.M.
1358 Sir John Offele, chaplain, held property at Waltham. Close Rolls, Westminster.
1404 Thomas Offle of Grenewynche is owed 4 £. Patent Rolls, Westminster.
1433 Thomas Offeley, Yoman, of Eseborne, co. Sussex, and others fined 1/2 mark for assaulting a female. Patent Rools.
1452 William Offlie, late of Staunford, co. Lincoln, taillour, failed to appear before bench to answer debt of 8 £. Patent Rolls, Westminster.
